Natural Beef Sales Outpace Other Kind - Yahoo! News

Note: If you are going to eat beef, it is best to eat beef from cattle that are range fed and not feedlot fattened. There are several reasons for this. The type of fat in a range fed animal is far healthier than that from a feedlot cattle. Range fed animals are healthier. Range fed beef contains lipoic acid. If raised naturally, there are no anti-biotics or hormones given to the cows. And feed lots are horrible places, to say the least. Same goes for dairy.

Thanks to concerns about mad cow disease, the success of natural foods stores and Americans' growing desire to know where their food comes from, natural meat is one of the beef industry's fastest-growing sectors. Over the past 10 years, Oregon Country Beef has gone from processing 3,400 head a year to 40,000. Since the mad cow scare in 2003, production has more than doubled, with a 73 percent increase over the past year.
