Role of soft drinks in childhood obesity

Comment: May be a factor?? Soft drinks are bad news. Period. Too much sugar (up to 12 teaspoons per can!), artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, etc. Bad news. Period. They don't belong in the human (or any other species) diet. Obesitity is just half of it. Osteoporosis, malnutrition, perhaps even cancer are other risks associated with drinking soft drinks.

Obesity is one of the biggest threats to child health. Genetics, decreases in physical activity, increases in television watching, and consumption of fast food are factors that have led to an increase of childhood obesity in the United States. Excessive consumption of sugar sweetened drinks may also be a key factor.
