Even low levels of common toxins may be a danger 

Note: Two of the toxins mentioned are found in tap water. It's why one of the best health steps a person can take is to get a good water filter and use filtered water for drinking and cooking. It's also a really good idea to get a full house filtering system if affordable so that water used for bathing is also free of toxins. The reason for this is that many water borne toxins can enter the body through the skin or through steam and water vapor generated during showering.

There is no clearly safe level of exposure to four of the most common environmental toxins in the world, and more should be done to protect the public, researchers argue in a new report.
The toxins in question -- lead, radon, tobacco smoke and byproducts of drinking-water disinfection -- are ubiquitous, and there is growing evidence that even low-level exposure can have health consequences"
